Blogware will leverage VAR distribution model to identify and block spammers

TORONTO, CANADA (March 13, 2006) – Tucows Inc. (AMEX:TCX, TSX:TC)
today announced the release of innovative spam fighting tools in its Blogware service. Blog spam is a serious problem for both blog publishers and service providers. With this release, Blogware now includes tools to automatically identify spam. Blog publishers can notify their service provider about the spam sources and service providers can add them to a Blogware global blacklist. Moderation tools for blog comments and trackbacks have also been added to give publishers the ability to control the comments that appear on their blog.

"We believe Tucows is in a unique position to leverage our distribution model to create one of the most comprehensive blacklists in the blogging industry," said Elliot Noss, President and CEO Tucows Inc. "Our strategy is to create a set of tools specifically designed to harness the reach of our channel and give service providers the information and tools they need to provide best-in-class blog spam protection to their customers." Tucows has worked closely with its channel of Blogware service providers to include their ideas and observations about spammer behaviour in the development of its blog spam fighting strategy.

"Providing our clients with the tools to effectively control and prevent blog spam is a high priority for us," said John Keegan, President BlogHarbor. "We have been impressed that Tucows worked with their channel partners on this solution. This innovative and collaborative approach to spam protection enables blog publishers and service providers, like BlogHarbor, to work together to create best-in-class blog spam filtering tools."

Blog spam is a concern for the entire blogging industry. Tucows will continue to cooperate with other companies in the collective fight against blog spam.
