Tucows’ Software Authors to Benefit From New Cost-Efficient Promotion Options
TORONTO, CANADA, November 18, 2002 – Tucows Inc. (OTCBB: TCOW), a leading provider of outsourced Internet services with more than 30,000 software titles in libraries located around the world, today announced the general availability of its Author Resource Center version 4.0 (ARC v4.0). ARC provides software developers worldwide with the tools to both manage and promote their software available on the Tucows web site. ARC v4.0, designed in direct response to the changing needs of Tucows’ software authors, includes a new pay-per-click pricing model and more opportunities for promotion.
The pay-per-click pricing replaces Tucows’ original flat fee structure. Pay-per-click pricing provides authors with a better return on their marketing investment because it is performance based: Authors only pay for the click-through traffic generated. As always, listings are free, but the new program provides authors with the additional option to bid on their software’s positioning in the category listings. For example, the authors of a new anti-spam program can choose to pay to have their program at the top of the list of titles in the anti-spam category.
ARC v4.0 also incorporates a completely redesigned Ratings Guide and report that were created after consultation with the independent software authors’ community and the Association of Shareware Professionals. All subscribed authors receive a breakdown on the scoring of their software as part of their ARC subscription. This provides valuable feedback that makes it easier for authors to make improvements to their own products. Tucows is the only major shareware site with a full-time staff rating and reviewing software.
