Senior Content Editor

Remote, Toronto, ON

Tucows (NASDAQ:TCX, TSX:TC) is possibly the biggest Internet company you’ve never heard of. We started as a simple shareware site in 1993 and have grown into a stable of businesses; mobile, internet and domains.

We embrace a people-first philosophy that is rooted in respect, trust, and flexibility. We believe that whatever works for our employees is what works best for us. It’s also why the majority of our roles are remote-first, meaning you can work from anywhere you can connect to the internet!

Today, close to a thousand people work in over 16 countries to help us make the Internet better. If this sounds exciting to you, join the herd!

This is a completely remote opportunity.

About the role

We are redefining what an in-house agency is and are looking for a Senior Editor to join the Herd. You would be responsible for ensuring that all communications in all channels are grammatically correct, consistent, accurate, respect our editorial style and brand guidelines and have been reviewed and approved by the partners.

What you'll be doing:

The role involves collaborating with members of the In-House Agency team and peers across the business, including Marketing, to help facilitate the delivery of quality, accurate communications. This includes:

  • Working on a variety of projects and customer/employee communications in digital and print channels (think web pages, display ads, blog posts, social posts, videos, postcards).
  • Participate in brainstorming and ensure that communications are delivered in plain language.
  • Collaborating with various business partners to collect and incorporate feedback from the required parties at all stages of development.
  • Helping deliver 100% accurate work.
  • Reconciling feedback, resolving inconsistencies and addressing concerns from partners, including looping back with them.
  • Being accountable for final approval of the creative work, based on compiled feedback and a last review of the finished product.

Education and Experience

  • A degree/diploma in journalism, communications, English or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of editing experience.
  • Familiarity with Associate Press standards.
  • Successful completion of our editing assessment (conducted at time of interview).

A bit about you:

Want to know if this role is for you, keep reading.

We > Me speaks to you and you are highly collaborative and organized. Your eye for details is well known. Communication is important for you, you enjoy facilitating discussion to gain alignment, and approval, on the work of the agency and its partners. You enjoy working with others and independently.

You have excellent editing and proofreading skills, with a strong command of English including grammar, punctuation and spelling. Prioritizing projects and proactively connect with partners comes easily. You know G Suite, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro like the back of your hand.

Lastly and most importantly, if an extraordinary company culture, working with creative people, having fun while making a difference with your work, is meaningful for you but you feel like you don't meet all of the requirements, it’s ok, give us a chance anyway. Who knows!
