Tucows (NASDAQ:TCX, TSX:TC) is on a mission to make the Internet better by providing people everywhere with online access to be empowered to make individual contributions. As a company, we embrace a people-first philosophy that is rooted in respect, trust, and understanding to encourage freedom, inspire innovation, and promote inclusivity; creating an environment for everyone to thrive!

Tucows has been working on the Internet since the days when people unironically called it the Information Superhighway. We are a 25-year-old global start-up embracing agility and creativity in order to continually seize opportunity for growth. We have evolved from a start-up domain service provider to becoming the second-largest domain wholesaler in the world while expanding our business with Ting, an Internet services company partnering with towns and cities to change what customers expect from their Internet Service Provider. We are building fiber networks across the US and have already launched Gigabit speed service in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Idaho and California, laying the groundwork for rapid scale.

Our growth has been incredible, smart, and measured, built on a solid technical and financial foundation. We have doubled our workforce in the last 4 years and continue in rapid expansion mode, providing services to millions of customers around the world.

About the opportunity
You love the Internet. Not just using the Internet but the Internet itself; net neutrality, the open Internet, and all that important stuff. You will be helping to design, develop and maintain services and features using various technologies to help the business deliver features and products within the domain industry. We work in real-time on live systems, so it requires a steady hand and a cool head. You’ll be joining a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals.

What we do
Now, this is a bit complicated, so hang on:

We are a domain registrar. We register and update domains for our customers. We do this for hundreds of top level domains, TLDs like .COM. Each TLD has its own technical requirements, and these are constantly changing. New TLDs are also appearing at a regular rate. The companies that run each TLD are called registries.

Your job is to configure and adapt our systems to such changes and additions.

What you’ll be doing
You will be involved in configuring, scripting and programming our systems to interact with each registry, as well as controlling how each TLD is processed. You will be communicating with registries all over the globe.

Over time you will become able to understand business requirements and translate them into technology.

Example tasks include setting up and maintaining functionality in the following areas:
*       TLDs
*       Products
*       Registry connections
*       Order workflows
*       Validation rules
*       Data reconciliation and migration projects

The job may include having an on-call duty, which you would be compensated for separately.

Your profile
First and foremost, you know how the internet and domains work, and you have experience in this area.

You also have a flair for technology.

You’re a quick learner. You have good communication skills and you are proficient in English. You are self-propelled and team-spirited.

You have knowledge of and experience with a good number of the following technologies:
*       XML
*       XSLT
*       EPP
*       JavaScript
*       Regular expressions
*       SQL
*       DNS
