CleanRecent Items 1.0
CleanRecent Items takes care of an error in MacOS 8.5.x that makes the Recent Items folder overloaded by a huge number of aliases.

This causes an unreasonable delay when calling up an Open or Save dialog supported by Navigation Services, because the system has to find the 10 most recent items out of several hundreds (or more) for display under the Recent pop-up menu.
CleanRecent Items sets a default limit of 50 for the number of items stored in the Recent Items folder. When that number is exceeded, the whole contents of the folder is moved to the trash. You can modify the limit by opening the script of CleanRecent Items with Script Editor.
It is suggested that you put this program in your Startup or Shutdown Items folder, in the System folder.
Requirements: MacOS 8.5 or later.
